Pace is the new online talk club

on

  • Celebrating 25,000 sessions and launching a redesign of groups.
  • Our weekly small groups are turning into all-week live talk clubs.

One of my favorite groups has proudly named itself The Creative Life.

I’ve never been in it (because I don’t think they’d consider me a creative), but I imagine curious, eclectic, and vibrant artists and creatives… talking live every week. Having uncommon conversations about life. And high-fiving each other over the internet.

Imagine if every striving artist could find human kinship any evening in that group.

We’d need to design groups to meet all the time, anytime. And it’d need to be a much larger group.

Going beyond 1x per week for 8 members unlocks an entire new live talk community. Many more moments of human connection. It’d bring together likeminded folks from all over the world and make them part of a space that’s bigger than them.

We think of it more like an online talk club than a group.

Here are four things that are changing, see it all in the app.

  1. πŸ™Œ Groups can now meet all week. Many groups have chosen to join forces – 100’s of members w/ sessions throughout the week. There’s no limit to sessions per week or members per group.
  2. πŸ” New Explore tab. Browse the new Explore to discover groups 3 ways – Largest, This Week, and Following.
  3. 🌱 Join then book. Simpler group membership – join before you book.
  4. πŸš€ Instant sessions. Coming soon: start a room in your group anytime.

Why?

We started Pace with the goal of reimagining mental health through weekly online groups. So why the new online talk club?

We don’t believe much of what’s “social” on the internet today is actually socially connecting.

But this isn’t a law of physics – we think the internet can bring people closer.

Actually we know it can: we’ve seen over 25,000 sessions of real people (strangers even) finding common humanity.

I know this whenever Pace members feel so connected to each other that they travel to meet in-person and send us photos.

We think we have a formula that works, to bring people closer together online, and we don’t want to hold back hosts who want to bring together large communities on Pace.

It’s about real live talk

We all have things to talk about, and we all feel like we’re on our own sometimes. That is normal.

What’s not normal is the idea that you need to live it all solo.

Pace is still invite-only, but join the waitlist and reach out.

See you in group,

Jack, Co-founder & CEO
